The history of this property starts in the 16th century. Part of the current structure was built in order to be able to signal to the watch tower of a nearby village. Two people were stationed at the house, one a soldier, the other one a farmer. As things would sometimes get boring the story goes that the two swapped jobs every once in a while to stay inspired.
As is typical for this type of building it has been expanded over time. The ground floor stables were turned into living spaces, rooms were added on and changed around. Two external staircases are still present but internal stairs were added. The delightful strong point is that during several renovations most key features have been carefully preserved. As a result there are wonderful original cotto floors throughout the house. Many of the ceilings still showcase thick old wooden beams, some of which have given in an inch to gravity. The stone walls have been meticulously maintained and radiate lots of sturdy charm. The stunning scenery is frequently framed by various doors and windows with a minimalist metal design. Character and space are ubiquitous.
This property includes a total 29 ha of land. A short gravel road leads from the main road up to the entrance gate and down to the house. A low maintenance garden surrounds the house and dresses up the heavy stone structure. walls and cypresses border the lawn behind the house creating a balcony towards to wide open view. The terrace outside the kitchen, covered by an old fig tree, is one of the many enchanting places around the building which are perfect for relaxing, drinks and meals. The land features a large olive grove of about 350 trees, a fantastic orchard, arable land, woodlands and meadows.

The ground floor harbours a large and bright kitchen/dining area with gorgeous views and a beautiful old wood stove. The doors open up to the terrace and pergola. A few steps lead to a spacious hall which gives access to a bathroom and bedroom. A large storage room, laundry room, another hall and second bedroom and boiler room complete this floor. The boiler room with the water heating system can be reached from the outside.
Outside two original staircases lead up to loggias that give access to the first floor. Inside the house a staircase in the kitchen connects the ground and first floor. During a previous renovation the first floor over the kitchen was opened up by removing the kitchen ceiling. A wrap around walkway has been left in place which creates a wonderful additional open space connecting with the kitchen. Next to this space as large room with fireplace is currently used as dining room. A further space harbours a study, but can easily be turned into a sitting room or for example library. The master bedroom enjoys the view and offers a walk in wardrobe as well as an en-suite bathroom. A second bedroom with en-suite bathroom complete this level.
